Here are testimonials from clients who applied E.M. technology in their study. We are committed to preserve confidentiality of any major information about our customers' industrial processes. Therefore, descriptions remain general.

MEDICAL

Industry Medical instrumentation

Subject

Development of a new appliance

Application

Surgical instruments sterilization

Project

Understand the process behavior in order to obtain reliable and foreseeable results.

Results

  • After two years of prototype development, the experimental process study was conducted in 7 weeks with only 38 trials,
  • The process modeling permitted to establish rapidly operational limits and to optimize in less than one week the adjustment of every significant parameter
  • The company believes in a saving of 9 months compared to the original estimate for the preparation of its FDA approval file.

DRYING

Industry Environment

Subject

New patented process

Application

Continuous drying of industrial sludge

Project

Optimize the process at the semi-industrial stage in order to design reliable solutions and to search for the most appropriate treatments to meet future customers' requirements.

Results

  1. The experimental stage of the development project, originally planned for 12 months, was completed in 10 weeks;

  2. The next stage consisted in designing a mathematical model and validating it with additional tests. It permitted to master the process and to implement equipment modifications for an improved performance.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE

Subject     Branded good production for mass market
Application Continuous industrial process
Project    Reducing final product taste variations by setting up feedforward control for each lot of raw material s, using their physical characteristics as inputs.

Note: Physical properties of the raw material affect quality of the finished product. Inability to adapt processing parameters to varying raw materials will introduce excessive taste variations which, eventually, could be noticeable by customers.

Results
  1. 52,4% reduction of taste variation,

  2. development of a mathematical model for optimizing lot to lot production,

  3. better corporative understanding of the process behavior.

HOT WORKING

Industry

Aeronautics
Subject  Fabrication of aircraft engine components
Application Hot working
Project    Reducing the frequency of many types of surface defects that affect subsequent operations.

Results

A 75% reduction in the defect rate.
A two-month payback on the project's external costs.

RUBBER PROCESSING

Industry Medium-sized manufacturing company
Subject     Rubber processing
Application Fabrication of a semi-finished product through a set of three consecutive operations forming a production bottleneck.
Project    Process modeling involving more than 30 parameters. Fifteen factors were chosen and multiple responses characterize the thermo-mechanical behavior of the rubber.
Results A 50% reduction in non-quality costs is anticipated during the next two years by applying results that will be found using E.M. Method.

GRINDING AND WELDING

Industry R&D Center
Subject In situ maintenance of hydraulic turbine blades.
Application Automated grinding and GMAW (MIG/MAG) welding.
Projects

Modeling of the optimal wire/gas synergistic combination,
Search for the optimal welding process mode.

Results A Rapid Process Development (RPD) method for schedule optimization.
